James Attwood is a founding member of Atkins & Attwood, LLC and has extensive experience in litigating personal injury matters and business disputes. Regarding personal injury lawsuits, James has represented individuals in cases involving tractor-trailer accidents, automobile accidents, and assaults at apartment buildings. In a nursing home malpractice case, James and his co-counsel obtained a $1.16 million verdict. James has also worked on several cases that have resulted in millions of dollars in settlements for people who suffered injuries or died from another person's misconduct.

James began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge Dudley H. Bowen, Jr., the Chief Judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. After his two-year appointment with Judge Bowen, James entered private practice at one of the largest firms in Atlanta. During this time, James represented Fortune 500 companies for a variety of claims, including fraud, breach of contract, class actions, and antitrust violations.

James left the large-firm practice to pursue his goal of opening a law firm that represents individuals and small businesses. James initially worked at Ford & Barnhart as an associate. While acquiring valuable experience and insight into taking on larger firms and insurance companies, James also obtained significant results for his clients through trials and settlements. James continued to work on personal injury and business litigation matters at other firms until he and Bill Atkins opened their own firm. Since opening the firm, Bill and James have obtained tremendous results for their clients, including a $475,000 verdict in the federal court for the Northern District of Georgia.

James attended the University of Georgia for law school. He served as the Senior Notes Editor for the University of Georgia Law Review. After graduation, James was inducted into the Order of the Coif, which is limited to graduates who finish in the top ten-percent of their class. James received a B.A. from Emory University. James enjoys cooking, bridge, music, and spending time with his family, friends, and three dogs.
